After photographing lots of weddings, I realised I wasn't actually photographing the couple.
As a wedding photographer, I’m expected to take photos of the couple.
Obviously.
But I think it’s more than just that. I believe the relationships at a wedding are so important, and they deserve equal attention. Whether it’s between the bride and her mother, or the groom and his new-born niece, or between mother and son, they are all so important.
The couples I usually work with are the ones who don’t want to put on a performance for their wedding, and because of that, I see them spend more time with the people they'd invited that day.
At this wedding, no-one was related. But everyone still treated each other like they were family, and I wanted to celebrate that. The laughs were genuine, tears were shed, and they were all so close with one another.
